Welcome to the #noshadesofgrey challenge! This year I will be joining in with Hobbii and many other designers and makers to crochet something colorful to get us through the cold, winter months. This challenge is to inspire us to choose color and embrace it. As a Plain Jane type of individual, I joined this challenge for reasons of my own. I love yarn and I love color, but do I wear it often? If you guessed no, then you guessed correctly. This year I want to truly embrace what it means to be colorful – in mind, body, and soul.
I must use a minimum of four distinct colors and create a wearable item. I went with Hobbii’s Woody Tweed in Nougat, Yellow, Orange, and Dark Green. Choosing these colors together on-screen was a bit difficult, but once they arrived in the mail I was pleased with my choice. Woody Tweed is a DK weight yarn consisting of recycled wool and viscose. The tweed effect was what drew me to choose this yarn, so I am excited to see how it works up in crochet stitches.
Right now, I am leaning closer to a short-sleeved striped top with Nougat as my main color. I usually change ideas around as I work on a project, so I would be happy if you stayed a bit to see the end results. Better yet, how about you join me? If you are up to it, you can grab some Woody Tweed here, or stash bust if you must and create something colorful for the month of January with me!
I’ll be back in a few days to show you my progress, and I hope you have something you can share with me too. I would love to see it! 😊
